Pain Care Is Outdated. Here's What's Next.
The same old solutions aren't working. It’s time for a smarter way to recover.

Welcome to The Movement.
My name’s Ryan, and I specialize in helping people be active and thrive in and out of the gym. This newsletter is about challenging the status quo of healthcare and fitness and summarizes what I’m learning, thinking, and teaching.
Thanks for reading and being a part of The Movement.
Here’s what we got this week.
Modernizing Pain Care
Trainers, coaches, and clinicians will argue all day about the best way to move.
Mobility this, stability that. There’s a new certification popping up every week with the latest and greatest exercise technique that promises to cure pain.
Guess what?
More people are injured than ever before.
Chronic pain is still a massive problem.
100 million Americans struggle with pain, costing the U.S. $635 billion annually.
And yet, the same outdated solutions dominate the recovery space:
Painkillers masks the symptoms, create dependency, and ruin lives. Have you watched “Painkiller” yet? Surgery is expensive, ineffective, and frankly barbaric. And physical therapy hasn’t evolved in decades.
Seriously, look at this photo of a physical therapy clinic from the 1970s. People lying on plinths getting passive range of motion. In the corner, a machine humming away, delivering ultrasound therapy that probably isn’t doing much.

Today’s physical therapy looks a lot like it did in 1970. Woof.
Now, walk into your local clinic today. What do you see?
People on tables getting their legs stretched. Therapists applying heat packs or hooking patients up to electrical stimulation. A few resistance bands in the corner. Maybe some light exercises before the session ends.
Sure, the equipment looks newer. The walls are painted a fresher color. But the approach? Almost identical.

This is what most PT clinics across the country still look like today.
Decades have passed, yet most rehab clinics still rely on the same outdated, symptom-focused treatments that haven’t evolved. Instead of addressing the root cause of pain, they’re stuck in the past, treating bodies like machines, without considering the mind, nervous system, or the body’s ability to heal itself.
If you’re reading this and thinking, “well mine doesn’t look like that.” Zoom out. You’re an outlier.
And even in the rare cases where clinics, gyms, or facilities appear more modern and progressive, that doesn’t necessarily mean their approach to pain care is any different.
If I had to pinpoint the biggest reasons why traditional pain care fails, it comes down to this:
1️⃣ Too much focus on the body, not enough on the mind.
Pain isn’t just about muscles, tendons, and joints. It’s rooted in the central nervous system. Where does pain actually come from anyway? If you’re only addressing the physical, you’re missing half the picture.
2️⃣ Believing that a 1-hour PT session or a 15-minute chiro adjustment will create lasting change.
What about the other 165 hours of your week? True recovery doesn’t happen in a clinic. It happens in holistic change, lifestyle, habits, and mindset shifts.
3️⃣ Viewing health as isolated parts instead of an interconnected system.
Your body isn’t just a collection of separate parts, it’s an ecosystem. Pain, recovery, movement, gut health, metabolic health, mental health, etc. are ALL connected. A multifactorial approach is the only way to achieve real wellness.
4️⃣ Insurance and money.
Choosing the medical system as your default for pain management means accepting that it’s built to keep you coming back, not to get you better. The industry is financially incentivized to manage symptoms, not fix the problem.
It’s obvious that traditional pain care isn’t working. I’ve seen it firsthand.
For 15+ years, I’ve worked with athletes who’ve tried everything. Painkillers. Surgeries. Endless rehab. And yet, they keep ending up in the same spot. Frustrated, stuck, and still in pain.
That’s why I started Valvo Health.
Our mission is simple: help athletes recover better by combining mind and body so they can perform at their peak, naturally and sustainably.
What if instead of outdated pain management, you could take one supplement that:
Preps your body and mind to recover naturally.
Improves rehab and workouts for better results.
Supports neuroplasticity to reduce discomfort and boost performance.
Works alongside movement and mindset for long-term recovery.
That’s exactly what Restore does. It helps you recover faster, move better, and perform at your best.
Restore is the first patent-pending nutraceutical designed to enhance the benefits of movement and exercise to reduce discomfort, accelerate recovery, and improve mobility.
Restore isn’t a miracle drug. It’s not a painkiller.
Painkillers work against your body. Restore works with it.
It reduces discomfort and inflammation naturally, helping your body heal the way it’s supposed to.
Patent-Pending Formula
Restore's patent-pending formula is built on four synergistic blends, each designed to target a key aspect of recovery. These blends layer their mechanisms, working together to create a holistic effect.

Pain care needs to evolve. And movement alone isn’t enough.
